COVER ARTWORK

Dark Moon Digest is looking for quality cover art for future issues of our quarterly publication.

All artwork submitted must be an original work of art. Artwork for our cover does not have to be color, but it is highly preferred. (Most non-color art is reserved for use on interior pages.) However, if we use your art for our cover, you may use it elsewhere once that issue has been printed. You retain all rights to your art.

Here are the rest of the guidelines:

DEADLINE: There is no deadline for submission of artwork. Artwork will be considered for future issues of the publication as they are submitted.

COMPENSATION:

Artists currently receive $50 (US) payment for each piece of artwork used on covers of Dark Moon Digest (or accompanying anthologies). Artists will also receive a complimentary copy of the issue. If they so desire, artists will also receive a free full page ad to promote their artwork in a future issue of the magazine (within one year of publication). You will also be credited for your artwork within the publication.

GENERAL GUIDELINES:

• All artwork must be submitted by the artist holding the copyright. (If your artwork is not copyrighted, don’t worry. Copyright laws protect your work from the moment you created it. Check here for more information on copyrights.)

• Your artwork must be unpublished in print format. Your artwork also cannot be available for sale or distribution in any format except on your own personal or business website prior to publication. Once the issue using the artwork has been published, you may sell or otherwise distribute the work.

• By submitting your artwork, you are assigning Dark Moon Books First World Serial Rights. You keep all other rights including the original copyright. Artwork published in either the magazine (or a Dark Moon Books anthology) will carry notices which stipulate the copyright resides with the artist and full credit will be given to the artist.

• All artwork should be submitted in 300 dpi or greater. The original artwork is not requested.

• You may withdraw your artwork from consideration at any point, but this request must be made in writing (e-mail acceptable).

• Artists selected for publication will be contacted prior to publication.

HOW TO SUBMIT:

• Submit all cover art submissions via e-mail as JPG, TIFF, GIF or PNG attachments to DarkMoonDigest@gmail.com. Please use “DMD Cover Art” in your subject line.

• Be sure to include your name and mailing address.

INTERIOR ARTWORK

We are also looking for black and white artwork to use on interior pages of future issues of our quarterly horror publication. All artwork submitted must be an original work of art. Artwork for our interior pages must be black and white (pen and ink, etc.) or grayscale.

Follow the guidelines for cover art as listed above with the following exceptions:

COMPENSATION:

Artists whose work is chosen for interior pages of Dark Moon Digest  will receive a copy of the issue of Dark Moon Digest in which their artwork appears along with a credit line.

Add your name to our mailing list to be notified when the next issue of Dark Moon Digest - The Horror Fiction Quarterly, will be available as well as to receive news about upcoming titles, contests and more. We have a strict policy regarding e-mail addresses and will not share your e-mail address with any other party, publication or company. Authors submitting stories will have their name added to our mailing list automatically, but can have their name removed at any time.
